At UNCUFFED, we have two main priorities. The first is to create pieces that make our customers feel elegant, beautiful and powerful. The second, is to ensure that every single scrap of leather used in production is ethically sourced.
Despite being a smaller business, we've worked very hard to align ourselves with ethical tanneries and suppliers, and to build a sustainable and accountable brand.
Every item in our collection is handcrafted in Toronto, using processes that range from the traditional to cutting edge (we LOVE our laser cutters). But regardless of technique, nothing leaves our hands until it looks, feels and wears exactly as intended.
Our process is also our home. We have and will continue to collaborate with local garment engineers and suppliers.
We only work with leathers that are a by-product of the food industry and insist on low impact tanning options whenever possible. In fact, we hand-dye 90% of the vegetable tanned leather used in the chokers and harnesses ourselves.
FUN FACT: Our flower crowns were born when we began gathering the off cuts remaining from our gloves and scarves. It was very important for us to be able to use every last inch of the hide, minimizing the waste.
